As we wait until the end of the year or semester to decide whether students are proficient in the learning goals of our classes, are we slowing some of our learners from maximizing their opportunities to grow? Could we provide exams on demand? This would include course exams, state exams, and other exams that serve as a gatekeeper to the rate and pace of learning. The logistics of this are hard to begin to make practical, but isn't it worth try to figure it out. If the timing of testing is inhibiting learning, don't we deserve to solution-make around this topic. If it is truly about the learning, then can't we be ready when the students are ready?
